⚠️

Before you start

Deleting your Vocabulary Stories account is permanent. It removes your account and your learning data from our servers, and it cannot be undone. We cannot restore a deleted account — you would need to sign up again and start from scratch.

If you only want to stop receiving notifications or emails, you do not need to delete your account. Notifications can be turned off in the app's settings, and our newsletter has an unsubscribe link at the bottom of every email.

📱

1. Delete your account in the app

If you still have the app installed and can sign in, this is the fastest route. Deletion happens immediately.

  1. Open Vocabulary Stories and sign in.
  2. Go to Progress.
  3. Open Settings.
  4. Tap Legals.
  5. Tap Delete Account.
  6. Scroll to the end of the warning screen. The confirmation controls stay hidden until you reach the bottom.
  7. Tick I agree to delete my account and my data.
  8. Type delete into the confirmation box. The Delete button stays greyed out until you have scrolled to the end, ticked the box, and typed the word.
  9. Tap Delete, then confirm with Yes, Delete Everything.

Your account is deleted straight away and you are signed out. In rare cases we remove your data but cannot remove your login — the app tells you if that happens. If you can still sign in afterwards, please contact us and we will finish closing the account.

✉️

2. If you have uninstalled the app or can't sign in

You do not need to reinstall the app or recover your password. Email us and we will delete the account for you:

hello@snapdigital.co.uk

Please send your request from the email address you used to sign up, and include:

  • The subject line "Account deletion request"
  • The email address on the account, if it differs from the one you are writing from

We will confirm the deletion by email. We complete verified requests within 30 days of receiving them, as required by UK data protection law, and usually much sooner. We may need to ask you a question to confirm the account is yours before we delete it.

3. What gets deleted

Deleting your account removes your sign-in details from our authentication system, along with the data we hold against your account:

  • Your account and sign-in details, including your email address
  • Your learning progress and streaks
  • Completed words and completed word tasks
  • Your app preferences and settings
  • Your favourite words
  • Your word packs and their contents
  • Stories you generated with AI
  • Push notification tokens and your notification history
  • Your subscription entitlement record in the app
  • Feedback you submitted on content
  • Your weekly quiz attempts and leaderboard entries
  • Any teacher access requests linked to your account
🗄️

4. What we keep, and why

Two things outlive your account:

  • Payment and billing records. If you ever bought a subscription, UK company and tax law requires us to keep the accounting record of that transaction. Purchases are processed by Apple or Google, so we hold the record of the transaction rather than your card details — we never see or store those.
  • Your newsletter subscription, if you have one. It is held separately from your app account and is not removed by deleting it — see section 6 for how to unsubscribe.

These records are kept only for as long as the law requires, and are not used to rebuild your account or to contact you. For the full picture of what we hold and for how long, see our Privacy Policy.

💳

5. Cancel your subscription separately

Deleting your account does not cancel a paid subscription. Subscriptions are billed by Apple or Google, not by us, so we cannot cancel one on your behalf. If you do not cancel it yourself, you will keep being charged after your account is gone.

Cancel first, then delete:

Refunds are handled by the store you bought from, under its own refund policy.

📧

6. Our newsletter is separate

If you subscribed to our email newsletter, that subscription is held separately from your app account, so deleting your account does not remove it. Use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter email, or email us at hello@snapdigital.co.uk and ask us to remove you.
